Archery Report Interview
Archery Report had the chance to ask Reo Wilde a few questions. I appreciate his willingness to take the time to answer and give us some insight into one of the world’s top archers.
AR: What is your most memorable archery moment?
Reo: My most memorable archery moment was winning the world cup finals with a perfect score and my wife standing right behind me.
AR: When was the first time that you beat your dad?
Reo: The first time I beat my dad in shot was in at the olympic training center in Colorado. It was a shoot they put on for compound and I think I was 19.
AR: How is the rivalry between you and your brother? Do you push each other harder?
Reo: I wouldn’t call it a rivalry because we always want the other to do well. As for pushing each other we do that as much as we can where Logan lives in Salt Lake and I live in Pocatello.
AR: What is your current equipment (bow, release, rest, sight, arrows, and stabilizer)?
Reo: I shoot a Hoyt bow (different ones for what I’m doing), Scott Longhorn release, Spot Hogg Infinity rest, CBE Sight with a Sure-Loc scope, Easton arrows, and B-Stinger Stabilizers.
AR: Do you have an all-time favorite bow?
Reo: My Favorite bow of all time is a hard one. I have had a ton of great bows and not one has just stood out.
AR: Which tournament win has meant the most to you?
Reo: I think the one that meant the most to me is the same as the most memorable win. It was a big win and my wife was there to share in it.
AR: Which tournament is your favorite to shoot in?
Reo: I love Vegas and also Love the Western Trail Classic; I would have to say it’s a tie.
AR: How do you practice? What is a practice session like for you?
Reo: I shoot every day for about 2 to 3 hours and keep score on every arrow. I don’t think just shooting arrows helps you out as much as keeping score and learning from what you do.
AR: Do you make a full living off of archery or supplement it with another job?
Reo: I work for UPS and supplement it with archery.
AR: Do you hunt, if so, what?
Reo: I love to hunt; not a lot of time for it with all the shoots going on, but I love to hunt deer and elk.
AR: Do you do anything outside of shooting to better your archery (weight lift, etc?)
Reo: I try to hit the gym but time is so limited that I never get there like I should.
AR: What innovations and/or improvements to archery do you see in the future?
Reo: This is another hard one. I’m always surprised by the new stuff and love to tinker.
AR: Do you have a pet?
Reo: I do have a pet. Her name is lady she is a little white dog.
AR: Thanks for your time Reo and good luck this year!
